Real Madrid Reportedly Receives Positive Champions League Injury News

Following

Real Madrid has received positive news on the injury front as reported by various outlets and journalists such as Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic's Mario Cortegena.

Los Blancos fans winced collectively on Tuesday night when star midfielder Eduardo Camavinga left an eventual 3-2 win over Chile for France before half time.

There were fears that the 21-year-old might have suffered a serious knock that would possibly keep him out of a Champions League quarterfinals clash against a team head coach Carlo Ancelotti described as one of Europe's "best" in Manchester City.

Madrid will host the Mancunians at the Bernabeu on April 9 for the first leg, and then travel to the Etihad eight days later on April 17 for the return fixture in a repeat of back-to-back last four clashes with the same opposition over the past two seasons.

According to AS, Ancelotti is currently mulling over three different plans to eliminate last season's winners.

In one of them, the Italian could adopt a 4-4-2 diamond approach where Aurelien Tchouameni would be a lone soldier providing pivot support to Toni Kroos and Camavinga while Fede Valverde mans the right wing and Vinicius Jr. the left.

This set up sees Rodrygo dropped, as Jude Bellingham appears to be deployed as a central striker.

Thankfully for Madrid and Ancelotti, taking this route is still an option as Camavinga has "escaped serious injury", The Athletic and other outlets reported.

Instead, the youngster has just a slight sprain and is still in line to take on Athletic Club at home in La Liga on Sunday evening.

Citing anonymous sources at Madrid, The Athletic reported that the team's doctors contacted French national team counterparts after the France-Chile match prior to the player returning to the Spanish capital for tests on Wednesday.

Once these have been carried out, the club should release an official statement on its findings.

With his team leading La Liga by eight points and comfortably through to the UCL last eight, Camavinga has made 32 appearances in all competitions this term which are yet to yield a goal for the ex-Rennes talent.
