Man killed in Maine fire

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A man was killed Wednesday morning in a fire at a home in St. George, Maine, authorities said. 

The St. George Fire Department responded to the fire at 272 Clark Island Road around 7:46 a.m., according to the Maine Department of Public Safety. While firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, they found the body of the man who lived alone at the residence. 

The man’s body was transported to the chief medical examiner, according to officials. 

The cause of the fire at the residence, which was a rental property, remains under investigation by the state fire marshal.
