NFL Draft News: LSU's Jayden Daniels Reacts to Stellar Pro Day

After a Heisman Trophy-winning season, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has risen toward the top of the quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. While USC's Caleb Williams is still viewed as the No. 1 quarterback option, Daniels is now considered the second-best quarterback prospect by many analysts and teams.

Daniels only continued to boost his draft status with his performance at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday. After opting not to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this offseason, Daniels decided to throw at his Pro Day. Though he missed a few tosses, Daniels impressed with several passes down the field and to his receivers.

After his Pro Day run, Daniels reacted to how he felt his performance went, while speaking to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.

"There were a couple throws I wanted back that I know I can make consistently," Daniels told Wolfe. "That's football, that life. You're gonna miss some things, you're gonna have mistakes it's all about how you bounce back. I feel like I missed a throw I bounced back the next throw."

Heading into his Pro Day, consistency in his throwing was a primary focus for Daniels in what he wanted to showcase.

"Consistency off platform, in the pocket, that I'm able to get my feet underneath me," Daniels said to Wolfe. "Same spiral, same trajectory, the ball's not dying on me, stuff like that. That's the biggest thing I've been working on."

With the Chicago Bears expected to take Caleb Williams No. 1 overall, many believe the Washington Commanders will select Daniels with the second overall pick. Commanders general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn were both in attendance at LSU's Pro Day. After his Pro Day, Daniels is reportedly meeting with the Commanders, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

During his final collegiate season, Daniels was one of the top quarterbacks across all of college football. He completed a career-best 72.7% of his passes for 3,812 yards along with 40 touchdowns to just four touchdowns. His 40 touchdowns ranked second in college football, only behind Oregon's Bo Nix.

In addition to his passing prowess, Daniels proved to be a dual-threat quarterback. Daniels rushed for an absurd 1,134 yards and ten touchdowns while averaging 8.4 yards per carry. Whichever team does select Daniels will bring in one of the most versatile passers and will have plenty of ways to exploit NFL defenses in 2024.
