Gabriel Martinelli says Arsenal have a £23m player who is truly ‘amazing’

Gabriel Martinelli seems really impressed with one of his teammates at Arsenal.

The Brazil international, on his day, is one of the best players in the Premier League. He had an amazing season last time out, but he has had his struggles this time around.

However, Martinelli is still a key player for Arsenal. He has scored big goals against Manchester City and Liverpool this season, and he will be very important as the Gunners enter the business end of the season.

Speaking of important players, Martinelli seems to have been blown away by one of his teammates.

The three Gabriels – Martinelli, Magalhaes and Jesus – are key players for Mikel Arteta, and all of them have had a phenomenal impact since they joined the Gunners.

Martinelli is the one who excites fans the most thanks to his electric pace and incredible dribbling. Jesus has the ability to get fans off his feet too with his skills.

However, the most underrated yet most important player among the three has to be big Gabriel Magalhaes at the back.

The defender, who joined Arsenal for just £23 million in 2020 (BBC), is one of the best defenders in the entire Premier League. He has been phenomenal for the Gunners this season – perhaps even better than William Saliba.

Martinelli and Jorginho took part in an episode of UnClassic Commentary this week where they spoke about Arsenal’s win over Manchester City in October.

After watching Gabriel block a shot from Julian Alvarez inside the box, Jorginho said: “What a block by Gabriel Magalhaes!”

Martinelli quickly replied: “What an amazing defender!”

“Amazing,” said Jorginho soon after.

Gabriel Magalhaes vs William Saliba – who has had the better season?

Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have formed what is arguably the best defensive partnership in the Premier League. They are both incredible centre-backs.

But, who has had the better season among the two Arsenal defenders?

In the Premier League this season, Saliba has averaged one tackle, 0.8 interceptions and two clearances per game. He wins two aerial duels per 90 minutes as well, which is a solid return. (WhoScored)

Gabriel, on the other hand, averages 1.3 tackles and 2.4 clearances per game while matching Saliba’s interceptions figure. The Brazilian, however, wins more aerial duels every game – 2.5. (WhoScored)

It is pretty close, but the numbers tell us that Gabriel has had a better season so far. The fact that the Brazil international has scored more goals gives him a further edge.
