Brennan Johnson says it’s an honour to play with Tottenham teammate who works so hard

Brennan Johnson has suggested that it is an honour to play alongside one Tottenham Hotspur teammate, as he lauded their work-rate following the draw over West Ham United on Tuesday night.

Spurs missed out on the chance to go into the top-four in the Premier League, with Kurt Zouma cancelling out an early goal from Brennan Johnson.

Johnson has silenced a lot of his doubters recently. The Welshman has now scored five goals and contributed seven assists in the Premier League since his move to North London last summer.

And his form acts as a reminder that Tottenham possess so many threats in attack. James Maddison has 11 goal involvements this season, while Timo Werner has made an impact on a number of occasions since his loan move in January.

Dejan Kulusevski continues to tick along. And Richarlison is into double figures for the campaign. But of course, it is another player who is the talisman for Tottenham.

Heung-min Son has definitely returned to form this season. He has stepped into the captaincy role brilliantly. And he seems to be able to make an impact in most games whether he is on the left or up front.

And speaking on TNT Sports after the draw with West Ham (broadcast on 2/4; 22:26), Johnson suggested that he loves playing alongside the £22 million star.

“It’s an honour to play with Sonny. Day in and day out he leads in his personality and quality and how hard he works and how he is as a person,” he said.

“I think everyone knows how nice a guy he is but he’s also very demanding because a player of that much quality demands the ball because he is the one who can score out of nothing. He demands it of all of us, to try and get him the ball. He speaks really well as well. Overall as a person he’s just a great guy.”

Heung-min Son will hope to help Spurs kick on next season

It is going to be fascinating to see how Tottenham fare next season. Their supporters will be hoping that this campaign has simply whet the appetite for what is to come under Ange Postecoglou.

There is no question that they now have so much depth in the final third. And you would like to think that they may sign another striker in the summer after not directly replacing Harry Kane. Tottenham have now been linked with Alexander Isak.

Teams may be starting to become more familiar with how Tottenham play. But clearly, there is a confidence that their attacking quality can overcome most of the opponents they come up against – with Son playing a key role.
