Brennan Johnson says he building a really good relationship with £15m Tottenham player now

Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson has now admitted that he’s beginning to form an excellent relationship with one of his teammates.

Johnson continued his strong form against West Ham United last night, scoring Spurs’ solitary goal.

The Welsh international has now provided five goals and seven assists for Tottenham in his 26 games, an impressive tally when you consider that’s often from the bench.

But having made such a big impact against Luton Town last weekend, it always seemed as if Johnson would be rewarded with a start in East London.

It’s incredibly rare to see Dejan Kulusevski on the bench in any game, especially when he’s joined by Richarlison.

But that demonstrates just how much faith Ange Postecoglou has in the forward, who still is his most significant signing at the club thus far.

That all being said, Johnson did pay homage to one of his Tottenham teammates after last night’s draw away at West Ham.

Speaking in an interview after the game, the winger admitted that he’s building a special bond with Timo Werner on the pitch.

Johnson explained that his relationship with Werner is getting stronger each and every time they play together, as can be seen with the duo combining for last night’s goal.

He explained: “The more time goes on I feel like the better the relationship becomes between me and Timo.

“I am kind of understanding his play a lot more and he is understanding mine, so it was nice for him to cut the ball across for me and for me to score.”

Of course, with most of the credit heading in the direction of Johnson, Werner does also deserve his props.

A £15m-deal to sign Werner permanently could represent real value for the club, a winger who is looking more confident by the game.

The German has contributed two goals and three assists in his 10 league appearances, which are again decent numbers considering he’s often subbed off or subbed on.

The signs are certainly positive for Tottenham offensively, but work clearly still needs to be done when it comes to conceding goals – an issue recently highlighted by Jamie Carragher.
