EMass boys’ volleyball: Setting up Andover for success, Marco Gomez Cabo headlines Players of the Week

Marco Gomez Cabo, Andover — The senior was at the center with 36 assists, 4 kills, 4 blocks, 4 aces, and 3 digs, as the Golden Warriors delivered Merrimack Valley power Lowell just its second conference loss over two years. He also pivotal in wins over Essex Tech and Boston Latin.

Dylan Carroll, Needham — With the Rockets shorthanded over the break, the sophomore stepped up with 11 kills, 7 digs, and 2 aces to drive a first set comeback and subsequent sweep of St. John’s Shrewsbury in the ALS One Tournament semifinals. He added 14 kills in Friday’s 3-2 championship win over host Winchester.

Dillon Power, Westford — Racking up 20 kills, 7 aces, and 3 blocks in a five-set marathon, the senior helped deliver the Ghosts their first win in a nonleague triumph over Arlington.

Ayden Rogers, Innovation Academy — Knocking the winning block along with 14 kills and three digs, the senior helped the Red Tailed Hawks stay afloat to win the fourth set, 34-32, and fifth set,15-13, over nonleague foe Excel Academy.

Jed Whitaker, Weymouth — The senior notched 22 kills and the winning block, propelling the Wildcats to a tight five-set victory in a nonleague bout with Brockton.
