A man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl who was reported missing in Knightsbridge.

Robert Prussak, 56, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court earlier and was remanded in custody.

The girl was reported missing from Brompton Road, west London, at 14:44 BST on Monday and was found by officers at 17:40 in Old Court Place.

She and her family are being supported by police, detectives said.

Mr Prussak, of no fixed address, is also also charged with administering a substance with the intention of stupefying or overpowering to enable sexual activity.

He is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 22 May.
