Minnesota Lawmaker Nicole Mitchell Accused of Burglary in Alleged Attempt to Retrieve Father’s Ashes from Step-Mother’s Home

Minnesota state Sen. Nicole Mitchell is accused of breaking into her stepmother’s home in Becker County to retrieve sentimental items and her late father’s ashes. Mitchell was arrested and charged with first-degree felony burglary after being found in the basement dressed in black. She claimed she was trying to get her father’s belongings because her stepmother wouldn’t talk to her. Mitchell posted on Facebook denying the stealing accusations and expressing concern for a family member’s medical well-being. Mitchell’s attorney stated that she was released without bond but has restrictions. The case is set for a pretrial hearing on June 10.
