Kano assembly clears KANSIEC commissioner-nominee

The Kano state House of Assembly Committee on Election Matters has successfully cleared Alhaji Lawan Badamasi, the nominee, for confirmation as a member of KANSIEC.

During the plenary session, the chairman of the House Committee on Election Matters, Murtala Muhammad Kadage, said the nominee is eligible for the appointment as the member Kano State Independent Electoral Commission.

In a statement issued by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, chief press secretary to the speaker, Kano Hause of Assembly, Tuesday said Kadage also said Badamasi’s eligibility was in line with the provision of section 4 (a) and (b) of the Kano State Independence Electoral Commission Law 2001, hence, the nominee was qualified to be appointed as the member, KANSIEC.

The honourable members unanimously approved the report submitted by Kadage.

The speaker, Kano House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, commended the good job of the members of the House Committee on Election Matters.

Falgore said Badamasi’s nomination was contained in a letter dated 25/3/2024 and sent to the assembly by the Executive Governor of Kano state, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as a substitute to Garba Ibrahim Tsanyawa as a member, KANSIEC.

The cleared nominee, Alhaji Lawan Badamasi, has held various positions ranging from clerk at table, deputy director, director, deputy clerk, as well as clerk/permanent secretary respectively.
