‘Why Nigerian education should align with global standards’

Chief Executive Officer, Corona Schools Trust Council (CSTC), Mrs Adeyoyin Adesina, has emphasised the need to align education with global standards and family values.

She also enjoined parents to be actively involved in their children’s academic journey right from the home front.

Adesina noted that education is taking a new shape and dimension, and schools must align with the changes by helping the children actualise their goals.

She spoke at the unveiling of a three-storey academic building for Corona Day Secondary School (CDSS), Lekki.

The event, attended by dignitaries and community leaders, not only highlighted the school’s commitment to academic excellence, it also ignited calls for collaborative community development initiatives.

Adesina noted that the unveiling of the new academic building signified the school’s unwavering commitment to shaping future leaders, while fostering community development and advancing educational standards.

Adesina said: “As stewards of the future, we must imbue our educational system with global standards and familial values.”

She restated the school’s commitment to excellence, propelled by a shared vision for transformative education.

Chairman of the CSS board, Mr Niyi Yusuf, said 21st-century learning must be holistic, focusing not only on academics but also on character and attitudes.

He expressed gratitude to parents for their unwavering support and urged the state government to prioritise road completion for the convenience of both road users and school stakeholders.

While delivering her keynote address, the chairman of CSTC governing board, Justice R.I.B Adeniyi, lauded Corona School as Lagos’s premier secondary institution, highlighting its role in elevating educational standards and meeting universal benchmarks.

She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing modern facilities and fostering a conducive learning environment.

A member of the House of Representatives for Ibeju-Lekki, Bayo Balogun, commended the school for its role in educational development, and decision to establish roots in Ibeju-Lekki.

He assured of community development initiatives, including discussions on infrastructural projects, positioning Ibeju Lekki as the future hub of Lagos.

The local government chairman of Ibeju-Lekki, Sesan Olowa, also expressed pride in the school’s achievements and assured of continued community support.
