FIFA U-17 World Cup: Olowookere announces Nigeria’s Flamingos squad for Burkina Faso qualifiers

Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has called up 25 players to the camp of Nigeria’s U17 Girls National Team, Flamingos, in preparation for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying match against Burkina Faso.

This squad selection is part of the lead-up to the third round of the African qualifying series.

The list includes a balanced mix of players with four goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards.

Olowookere, who guided the Flamingos to their first-ever World Cup bronze medal in India last year, aims to continue the team’s momentum after their impressive 12-0 aggregate win over Central African Republic in the previous round.

Harmony Chidi, who scored five of the 12 goals, and Ramota Kareem and Shakirat Moshood, each with a brace, are among the players called up.

The first leg of the third-round fixture will take place at the Stade 4 August in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on Sunday, 12th May. The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, 18th May, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria.

Success in this qualifying stage will move the Flamingos closer to competing in this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in the Dominican Republic.
