NFL Draft Rumors: 11 Teams Reportedly Showing Interest In Trading Up in First Round

The 2024 NFL Draft might turn into one of the craziest in terms of trades and teams attempting to trade up in the first round. There have been multiple rumors and reports about teams trying to leapfrog their potential competitors to land one of the better quarterback prospects.

The quarterback position isn't the only one that is stacked, as there are plenty of wide receivers and offensive linemen that teams recognize as potential day-one starters. This has resulted in a new rumor indicating that a staggering 11 teams are attempting to trade up.

Longtime NFL insider Jordan Schultz has revealed notes from the NFL Draft, which states, "As many teams expect a flurry of 1st-round trades, sources believe these are the teams who've shown the most interest in trading up: Giants, Jets, Vikings Raiders, Colts, Jaguars, Bills, Lions, and Eagles. The Commanders could come back up into Round 1 as well."

According to Schultz, the Giants, Jets, Vikings, Raiders, Colts, Jaguars, Bills, Lions, and Eagles are all angling to find a way to trade up higher than where they are picking. According to Diana Russini of The Athletic, the 49ers and Rams are two more teams looking to trade up.

The Giants might have the easiest time trading up, as they are currently picking No. 6 overall. There have been plenty of reports they value UNC's Drake Maye as their next franchise quarterback, and they have reportedly been in talks with the Patriots about swapping picks.

The Vikings and Raiders are the only other two teams listed who are more than likely attempting to trade up to select a quarterback. The Vikings have been linked to Michigan's J.J. McCarthy and the Raiders have been linked to Washington's Michael Penix Jr., who could still fall to the Raiders at No. 13 overall.

The Jets, Colts, Jaguars, Bills, Lions, Eagles, Rams anf 49ers are all likely to want one of the better offensive weapons that will be taken in the first round like Washington's Rome Odunze— or they want an offensive lineman like Notre Dame's Joe Alt.

There is no telling which teams in this list will be able to trade up, but should more than half accomplish their goals, it will turn the NFL Draft upside down. Analysts have been attempting to predict where players will land, but the only consensus is USC quarterback Caleb Williams going No. 1 overall to the Bears and LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels going No. 2 overall to the Commanders.

The rest of the picks could go in just about any direction. The draft is set to kick off soon, and the top 10 picks could turn into a madhouse.
