Oyo LG poll: Be patriotic, NOA director urges politicians

The Oyo state director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Thursday, tasked the electorate in the state to shun violence and be law-abiding during Saturday’s local government election.

He stated this in Ibadan while featuring on a Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) TV early morning programme, “Kutuhai.”

The NOA director said law enforcement agencies would be stationed in every polling unit to maintain peace and order during the voting exercise.

Dr. Afolayan added that the electorate should ensure they have their Permanent Voters Card ready, to be eligible to vote and also ensure they arrive at the voting centres early enough and stay to exercise their civic rights.

Commenting on the preparation of OYSIEC for the election, Dr Afolayan lauded the electoral body under the leadership of Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN) for creating a level-playing ground for all political parties without any preferential treatment.

She pointed out that the trust and confidence that opposition parties have in OYSIEC motivated their participation in the election.

The NOA state director also commended the peaceful campaigns by political parties in the state devoid of rancour in every ward as the local government is ready for the coming election.

He called on eligible voters to turn out in large numbers to vote for the candidate of their choice.
