AWKA – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has met with the Nigerian Army to strategize on how to improve security in Anambra State.
This is coming on the heels of reports of cult killings in Awka, Anambra State capital, and kidnappings by herdsmen in Ukwulu-Nawgu, Nawgu-Isuaniocha and Nawgu- Enugu-Agidi Roads in Dunukofia Local Government Area, which is also within the state capital territory.
The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Anambra State Command, Mr. Okadigbo Edwin revealed the partnership in a press statement made available to the media in Awka.
Okadigbo said the resolve was made during a courtesy call by the state commandant of the corps, Mr Olatunde Maku to the Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment of Nigerian Army, Onitsha, Anambra State, Col. M. B. Abubakar.
Maku who sought the collaboration of the army to tackle the insecurity in Anambra said: “Most of the confidence we have as NSCDC personnel is as a result of the Nigerian Army. “You remember when I resumed my tour of duty, I saw the existing relationship between all security agencies and I keyed into it.
“I am proud to say that you have not disappointed me in executing our core mandate in the protection of Critical National, State and Local Government Assets and infrastructure. We have sought for your synergy and I am happy to say, you have without hesitation availed us. Thank you for always partnering with us.
