Gunmen have killed two persons, including the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Mai Dabino community in Danmusa Local Council of Katsina State, Saidu Basa. 

 
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 3.30 pm, along the road leading to Danmusa.  The APC had called for a stakeholders’ meeting in Danmusa and had invited its members to the council area. 
 
Basa was said to have attended the meeting and had given a lift to a passenger, who was going to Mai Dabino.  A source said it was while they were on their way back that they were accosted by the gunmen, and were shot in the process. 
 
Both men were buried on Wednesday evening according to Islamic rites.   As of the time of this report, the police spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, as well as the state APC chairman, Sani Daura, had not responded to inquiries on the incident. 

ALSO suspected terrorists have attacked the headquarters of Maru Local Council of Zamfara State, killing one and abducting three others. According to a witness, Abubakar Maru, who spoke to newsmen in a telephone interview, the bandits stormed the town around 11.13 pm on Wednesday.  He further stated that the armed bandits operated freely in the town for over two hours.
  
“The bandits operated for over two hours freely in the town, and as I speak, many residents of the town, mainly women and children, have fled for safety,” he added.

 
Bandits also struck at Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi Local Council of the state, around 10.30 pm, the same night, to kidnap the emir of Zurmi, Bello Muhammed Bunu.
 
A resident said the terrorists invaded the palace and the residence of former military administrator of Nasarawa State, Col Bala Mande (rtd), but the monarch had been taken away to Gusau by security operatives. He said the bandits killed three persons and kidnapped three others.
  
Efforts to contact the spokesman of Zamfara police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were not successful at the time of filing this report.
 
Meanwhile, Zamfara police command has confirmed that at least three persons were killed on Wednesday when terrorists attacked Zumi town and exchanged fire with the police.
  
The Guardian gathered that the terrorists, who engaged the police, fired a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) and destroyed the telecommunications mast in the town to distort communications between the people and response agencies.
 
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Yazid Abubakar, told an online platform that three persons were killed in the attack while the terrorists recorded casualties too.
 
Abubakar said the terrorists also abducted one person, adding that they had planned to cause great havoc in the area but for the quick intervention of the police and other security forces. He said none of the terrorists, who came in their hundreds, had been arrested but that efforts were ongoing to rescue the kidnapped victim and arrest the terrorists.
