Elon Musk has once again dethroned Mark Zuckerberg to become the world’s third-richest man after Meta's shares plummeted by 16% on Thursday, Business Standard reported.

Zuckerberg’s fortune has declined by $18 billion in the world’s fourth-largest one-day stock drop.

Meanwhile, the Tesla chief executive gained $5.8 billion.

Now, Zuckerberg’s wealth stands at $157 billion, while Musk has a fortune of $184 billion.

The two billionaires are often at odds with each other. They have been engaging in an online spat for some time now. Last year, the two even traded barbs about a possible cage fight.

Zuckerberg also launched the social media application Threads in 2023 to compete with Musk owned X, formerly known as Twitter.

Much of the Facebook owner’s wealth comes from his stakes in Meta Platform, while Musk’s fortune is tied to his stakes in Tesla, Space X and X.

Tesla stock prices are on an upward trend after Musk announced the production of cheap vehicles starting this year. Before this, its stocks had been falling.

Currently, Bernard Arnault, the chairman of LVMH, with a net worth of $231 billion is the world’s richest man followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has a net worth of 195 billion.
