Kemar Roofe ‘likely’ to leave Rangers after Southampton news – Sources

Kemar Roofe is “likely” to leave Rangers this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Roofe, 31, is expected to depart Ibrox as a free agent when his contract expires.

It is believed that the forward is eager to explore his options in the summer transfer window amid interest from English clubs and Rangers are not expected to offer him a new contract.

Well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider (12 April) that Fulham, Sheffield United, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are plotting moves for the former Leeds man.

Kemar Roofe set to end four-year Rangers spell this summer

Roofe has had a successful four-year spell at Ibrox having bagged 38 goals across 100 appearances in all competitions.

He helped the side to the league title under Steven Gerrard in the 2020-21 campaign and their run to the Europa League final the following season.

However, his current campaign has been marred with injuries, with the attacker making just seven starts in all competitions.

It is believed that manager Philippe Clement is keen to form his side in his own image this summer and is eager to reduce the average age of his squad.

Rangers sit three points behind league leaders Celtic and most recently booked their spot in the Scottish Cup final after their 2-0 win against Hearts on Sunday (21 April).

They are next back in league action with their away clash against St Mirren on Sunday afternoon (28 April).
