Arne Slot could be joined at Liverpool by coach who Virgil van Dijk said is ‘very clear and tactically strong’

Over the past few months, Liverpool have been looking for a new manager to take the reins from Jurgen Klopp once he steps down at the end of the season.

And based on what we’re seen over the last few days, it looks as though the Reds are firmly on track towards bringing a new coach in the Anfield dugout.

On Tuesday, speculation emerged claiming Liverpool had made Feyenoord’s Arne Slot their top target.

The following day, TBR Football sources claimed that the Reds had entered into talks with both Slot and with Feyenoord.

And on Thursday evening, Slot himself revealed to ESPN that he is indeed after the Anfield job and that talks are taking place.

If all goes well in negotiations between all the relevant parties, then the 45-year-old Dutchman should be the man to take over from Klopp.

However, the question then is – who could Slot bring in to assist him at Liverpool? After all, Klopp’s backroom team is also set to leave.

Dominic King of the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Slot is prepared to bring his Feyenoord assistant Sipke Hulshoff with him to Anfield.

Meanwhile, transfer insider Dean Jones backed Slot to bring most of his backroom team from De Kuip.

What could Liverpool fans expect from Sipike Hulshoff?

Aside from his good work alongside Slot at Feyenoord, Hulshoff is also working with the Netherlands national team.

The 49-year-old serves as Ronald Koeman’s assistant manager with the Oranje, and has worked with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Indeed, the Liverpool captain was eager to sing Hulshoff’s praises during their first international camp together last year.

“Of course I didn’t know Sipke Hulshoff before this,” Van Dijk told Voetbal International.

“You have to get to know each other. You see what his qualities are and I personally certainly like that.

“Hopefully he can continue that well. He is very clear and tactically strong.

“I like the moments when he leads a training session. I think I also speak for the group.”
