T’Vondre Sweat is going to Nashville. The Texas defensive tackle was drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 38 pick and the No. 6 pick of the second round.
The selection is a huge victory for Sweat who some expected to fall lower in the draft. Ultimately, the veteran interior defensive lineman brought too much in the way of playmaking and disruption to fall past Tennessee.
Sweat had a strong season that extended past the stat sheet, but still managed to produce on the inside of the Texas defense. In his senior campaign, Sweat put up 45 total tackles, two sacks and five passes defended. His clutch play helped the Longhorns to a Big 12 championship season and first ever College Football Playoff appearance.
Sweat became the third Longhorn drafted in the first 38 picks. He continues the program’s strong class after head coach Steve Sarkisian’s third season in Austin. Sweat will look to make an impact in the AFC South.
