Ryan Sessegnon ‘looking at options’ after ‘huge’ Tottenham development – expert

Tottenham star Ryan Sessegnon will consider leaving the club this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that Sessegnon, 23, will “look at his options” as he would struggle to become a regular under Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder has had a torrid time with injuries since his reported £25million move from Fulham in 2019 having played just seven senior minutes in all competitions this season.

Recurring hamstring issues have forced Sessegnon to miss 87 games for the Lilywhites since his move, with his last Premier League start coming back in January last year – over 16 months ago.

Ryan Sessegnon to exit Tottenham this summer?

The former Fulham star, who has made just 57 appearances for Spurs in nearly five years, is also reportedly on the radar of Turkish giants Galatasaray for a potential summer move.

Hutton told Sessegnon that he must prioritise regaining his fitness but suggested a summer departure could benefit his career.

“Tottenham paid a decent fee for him, but he’s just not been able to stay fit,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s a really good player and a guy who needs confidence.

“He’s not playing regularly and he’s been hugely unlucky with injuries.

“You never want to see that.

“But the club will look at him and ask whether it’s time to move on.

“It’s interesting as he’s still young and has a lot to give.

“Ange would like him as a player as well.

“But there’s a lot of quality ahead of him, so would he be able to break into that team and be a regular?

“He will be looking at his options this summer, but first and foremost, he needs to look after his body.”
