BBC pundit says Liverpool should sign 24-year-old who’s even faster than Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have a big summer coming up.

The Reds are about to change their manager, they already have a new recruitment team in place, and to top it all off, their star player might leave in the shape of Mohamed Salah.

Rumours about Salah’s future continue to persist as Saudi Arabian clubs circle, but even if Salah doesn’t go, Liverpool may want to go out and sign an attacker. After all, Darwin Nunez’s form as of late hasn’t been great.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Don Hutchison has been discussing Liverpool’s attacking issues and how they could be fixed, and he’s suggested a potential signing in the shape of Rafael Leao at AC Milan.

Rafa Leao suggested as a Liverpool signing

Hutchison spoke about the AC Milan star and a few other options for Liverpool.

“I think Liverpool have got a conundrum. Do they see him (Darwin Nunez) as a number 9 or do they need him as someone who is going to be brilliant off the left-hand side? I think at some point, depending on how much Liverpool have got in the summer to spend, there are players out there that can improve Liverpool. Rafa Leao at Milan is an unbelievable player, Kvaratskhelia at Napoli is the same, Osimhen I have always loved, so there are players out there. But that’s a lot of money. So it depends on how Liverpool actually see it and how they view the player,” Hutchison said.

Rafa Leao is too similar to Darwin Nunez

We’re not sure we agree with this suggestion.

Swapping out Darwin Nunez for Rafa Leao would be akin to swapping out a Coke for a Pepsi.

These two players are both dangerous weapons, but they both have some of the same problems in that they can be too rash and too wasteful at times.

Leao is a dangerous player. He’s incredibly fast and skilful – even quicker than Mo Salah according to The Speeds Database, but, at the same time, he’s not got that killer instinct that Liverpool need in a striker right now.

In a game of stick or twist here, we’d implore Liverpool to stick with Nunez, even if he is proving to be a very frustrating player.
