‘Very special’…BBC pundit says Liverpool now have a player who is very similar to Roberto Firmino

Liverpool take on West Ham in the early kick off today as they look to keep winning games in case Man City or Arsenal slip up.

A disastrous last few weeks has seen the Reds drop out of Europe and also lose ground in the title race.

For Jurgen Klopp, it’s now simply about battling away and keeping the faith. In football, you never know and all he can do is try to keep his side winning.

Of course, to do that, he’s going to need a bit more from his forward players.

Recent weeks have seen the likes of Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah struggle, while for all Luis Diaz’s endeavours, he’s hardly been prolific either.

However, one plus for the Reds has been the return of Portuguese forward, Diogo Jota.

The former Wolves star is back from injury and widely regarded as Liverpool’s best finisher. And speaking about Jota for BBC Five Live last night, former West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker claimed the Liverpool man simply doesn’t get enough credit.

Diogo Jota is underrated at Liverpool

Speaking on Five Live about Liverpool’s squad, Reo-Coker admitted he feels like Jota is overlooked for just how good he is.

“I think the player for me who we haven’t mentioned who I think is a big loss to them just because of lack of availability is Jota.

“I think Jota is a very special player that doesn’t really get the credit that he deserves as well. And he makes a difference when he plays for this Liverpool side. What he brings in the final third is similar to Firmino when he was there. Jota has been so important,” Reo-Coker said.

Jota better than Darwin Nunez

In terms of being a pure finisher who can get the goals you need in a title race, Diogo Jota is the man for Liverpool.

It’s a bit of a shame he hasn’t been fit a bit longer, given Nunez’s struggles when it’s mattered.

Jota, as mentioned by Reo-Coker, has an impact on the team like Bobby Firmino did and that is a massive compliement.

As it stands, Jota is the man over Nunez at Anfield and Liverpool fans will be hoping the chances drop to him, and not Nunez, against the Hammers today.
