DFL Party Chair suggests Sen. Mitchell should ‘probably consider resigning,’ if in his position

Minnesota DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin expressed concern over the felony burglary charges against Sen. Nicole Mitchell but stopped short of calling for her resignation. He suggested that Mitchell may consider resigning to focus on her legal challenges and family. However, Martin emphasized that Mitchell has the right to due process. Republican Party Chair David Hann called for Mitchell’s resignation, questioning her ability to serve and vote in the Senate amidst legal issues. An ethics hearing is scheduled for May 7 to address the burglary charge. Martin acknowledged the cloud hanging over Mitchell but stressed that she is still a duly elected member of the Senate. The full interview with Martin and Hann will be aired on “At Issue with Tom Hauser” on KSTP-TV.
