Stefanos Tsitsipas held a press conference at the Mutua Madrid Open 2024 following his loss in the tournament. He acknowledged the strength of his opponent and expressed disappointment with his own return game and balance. Tsitsipas also shared his admiration for Rafa Nadal, who may be playing his last match in Madrid, and discussed how Nadal’s game has inspired him on clay.
Despite the loss, Tsitsipas remained focused on the upcoming clay court tournaments and the joys of playing tennis. He also shared that he learned some improvements during the match and intended to apply them in future matches against challenging opponents. In addition, Tsitsipas spoke about the importance of staying alert against opponents and continuing to focus on the process in tennis. He set a goal of achieving as many points as possible during the clay season, with a target of around 6,000 points.

Ranked no.7, Stefanos played his last match on the 27th of April when he capitulated to world no.118 Thiago Moura Monteiro 6-4 6-4 in the 2nd round in Madrid (draw).

Tsitsipas will compete next in Rome (Internazionali BNL d’Italia). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 8th of May.
