Biden and Trump draw nearer to debate platform

After swelling pressures from Donald Trump’s campaign and allies, Joe Biden has shown commitment towards general election debates. Trump responded on Truth Social stating he would debate anytime, anywhere. Republicans have been calling for debates to happen sooner, arguing that Americans deserve to see both candidates. Trump’s team wants debates earlier to reach voters before they decide. Biden’s campaign, however, is not rushing to commit. Strategists believe debates are important to compare candidates’ records, even though there’s a risk of negative perceptions dominating the media cycle. Despite the risks, skipping all debates would break a tradition that goes back decades.
