Britain's Got Talent viewers were left with mixed opinions, after an opera singing Batman was left flying around screens during Saturday's edition of the show. After an eerie intro, the stage was lit up to reveal a man dressed in a black superhero costume resembling Batman.

Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli were left jaw-dropped, while Alesha Dixon exclaimed: "Oh my.." as the masked man stood silently staring at the judges table, while the live studio audience erupted. Host Ant McPartlin turned to the camera and said: "I love Batman. He's impressive in real life isn't he?" while co-host Declan Donnelly wore a look of confusion.

As the audience settled, Alesha asked: "What's your name and where are you from," only to receive a silent, hollow stare from the contestant, repeating: "What's your name?" Amanda added: "I'm not sure we're going to get much out of him," before Alesha added: "Go for it."

And nobody was prepared for what happened next, as the masked participant burst into song and dance with a cover of Idina Menzel's Defying Gravity in a deep baritone. A silent crowd watched in amazement, until the 'Dark Hero' was whisked into the air on strings while the track eclipsed - bursting into ovation.

After his performance, Alesha said: "You little minx - so that's what you get up to at night is it?" while Amanda asked: "Did you bring Robin?" prompting Dec to be shoved onto the stage by Ant, standing arms crossed with the contestant. Bruno, added: "Your baritone was just brilliant."

And while the Dark Hero received four yeses from the judges for his brilliant performance, making it to the next stage of the competition, viewers watching at home were left confused by the performance while pointing out a key flaw.

One person wrote: "I mean, he can sing, why is he dressed like batman?" while another added: "Why does he need to dress as Batman to get noticed?" A third went on: "Not being funny. But Batman can't fly. He should have dressed as superman," while a fourth exclaimed: "I wasn't expecting an opera singing Batman #BGT Yay to unexpected surprises."

Another fan, wrote: "Far more memorable than batman and robin 1997 George Clooney movie."
