The woman alleged to be the real-life stalker depicted in Netflix's hit series Baby Reindeer has slammed the "fat actress" portraying her and is threatening to take legal action against the streaming giant. As the gripping drama Baby Reindeer climbs into Netflix's top 10 this week the Scottish woman who inspired the story has voiced her anger over the casting choice.

In the series the character Martha, portrayed as an obsessive stalker, is played by acclaimed actress Jessica Gunning. In a chat with the Scottish Sun the woman expressed her fury over the casting decision and threatened to sue the popular streaming platform. She told the news outlet: "There's a fat actress that's supposed to be me." And she added: "I am very attractive. He's not Brad Pitt."

She also strongly refuted claims Baby Reindeer was based on a true story and is ready to sue Netflix over her depiction in the series. "I have a claim against Netflix as this is being billed as part of a true story," she said. "People are probably saying I'm a mass murderer. This can't continue. I will kick their a**es."

In the midst of the controversy she has declared her readiness to represent herself in court against Netflix. She confidently stated: "I'm a highly competent lawyer. I'd have to do it myself. I'm very good," reports the Mirror US. She added: "I have a photographic memory and can memorise huge files. I was top in my school at everything."

Baby Reindeer is a drama-thriller series inspired by comedian Richard Gadd's autobiographical one-man show which recounts his harrowing experience of being relentlessly stalked by a mentally ill woman with a criminal past. Speaking to Channel 4 Gadd, whose real-life story forms the basis of the series, said: "At its peak it was almost unbearable."

Following the release of the series the woman alleged to have inspired the role has been on the receiving end of a barrage of hate and death threats from viewers. She has since spoken out and claimed the show "is a gross intrusion into my privacy" and vowing that she will "not be silenced." Despite fearing the backlash she insisted: "I'm the victim here, not Richard Gadd. I've had death threats as a result of his show despite the fact that a lot of the things he claimed are just not true."
