Vernon Kay is celebrating a milestone birthday and everyone is asking the same question… does he ever age?
The TV star is practically part of the furniture in many of our households, having hosted some of the most beloved shows over the years.
From fronting All Star Family Fortunes to taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Vernon has done it all, including radio for over a decade.
Away from the screen, the Bolton-born star is happily married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, and they share two daughters: Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14.
It might come as a surprise, considering his seemingly eternal youthful appearance, but Vernon Kay is 50!
Yes, really.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ celebrated the milestone on April 28.
Taking to Instagram to mark the occasion, his wife Tess, 55, posted a sweet video full of personal snaps taken throughout the years.
She wrote: ’50 TODAY @vernonkay🕺🏻🎉
‘So happy to have spent half of those birthdays with you ❤️🎂🎈’
In the comments, fans and famous pals flocked to wish Vernon well.
Strictly judge Shirley Ballas commented: ‘Have a beautiful day ❤️ happy happy birthday to a kind soul ❤️’
‘Happy birthday Vern 🥳’, wrote Kirsty Gallacher, with whom he co-hosted The Hero Challenge on Sky Sports in 2017.
Dianne Buswell added: ‘Happy birthday ❤️’
Meanwhile, followers were left stunned after discovering Vernon’s real age.
‘How do you two never age?’, asked user simonsworld26.
‘You guys have aged about 5 years in the last 25…’, wrote eleanorkovacikfitness.
‘Happy Birthday Vernon! Still a youngster in my eyes!’, added scutchie61.
Vernon’s 50th comes after reports he was having ‘mixed feelings’ about the big day.
An insider told OK!: ‘Vernon had mixed feelings about turning 50, to him it just feels so old and was in a bit of panic before it all happened.
‘He has always liked to see himself as quite young and trendy – it only seemed like a few years ago he was being described as fresh young talent.
‘But he also feels so grateful to have got to 50 and to be married to Tess and have two beautiful and healthy daughters.’
Vernon first met Tess in 2001 while he was hosting on T4.
They tied the knot in 2003 at St Mary’s Church in Horwich, and now reside in a mansion in Buckinghamshire.
Career-wise, when he’s not living it up in St Tropez or basking in the sun in the Maldives with his family, Vernon is a regular on both our TVs and airwaves.
The ex-model finished third in 2020’s I’m A Celebrity, has had presenting slots on The One Show, and hosted Formula E motor racing coverage for Channel 5.
Radio-wise, his northern accent can often be heard blasting out on BBC Radio 2.
In February 2023, Vernon was announced as the new host of the station’s mid-morning show from May, replacing Ken Bruce.
