JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State dropped its series finale to Florida A&M 12-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action at Braddy Field on Sunday.
The two teams battled through an initial 30-minute lightning delay that was stretched into a two hour and five-minute rain delay before Florida A&M (22-21, 17-4 SWAC) used a five-run fifth inning to pull away for the win. Jackson State (27-16, 10-11 SWAC) was held to four hits in the loss including a pair from
Joseph Eichelberger.
Isaiah Williams (4-3) suffered the loss working 5.0 innings and allowing nine runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
How It Happened
- (T1) Broedy Poppell scored on an RBI groundout followed by a Joseph Pierini single through the right side, and a three-run double from Evan Badger, Florida A&M 5-0.
- (T5) Pierini hit a solo home run to left, Florida A&M 6-0.
- (T6) Ty Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk followed by a sacrifice fly from Poppell and an RBI groundout from Janmikell Bastardo. The Rattlers added another on a throwing error and a double from Pierini, Florida A&M 11-0.
- (T7) Jackson reached on an error allowing a run to score, Florida A&M 12-0.

Jackson State is off until next weekend when they play in another conference series, facing Mississippi Valley State in a three-game set beginning on Friday.
