Fabio Silva has ’embarrassed Rangers’ after ‘awful’ twist – pundit

Rangers star Fabio Silva has “embarrassed the club” with his frequent diving.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie slaughtered Sliva, 21, and claimed that he has been “awful” during his loan spell.

The striker was widely mocked for taking a dive in the closing stages of Rangers’ Scottish Cup semi-final win on Sunday (21 April) when he had a clear chance to bag a goal and make it 3-0.

Despite a bright start to life at Ibrox, the Wolves loanee has managed to score just four goals in 19 appearances in all competitions with fans and pundits alike adamant that he has failed to live up to the reported £35milllion price tag Wolves shelled out for him in 2020.

Fabio Silva has been ’embarrassing’ for Rangers – McAvennie

McAvennie claimed that Rangers should not look to make his loan move permanent this summer and claimed Cyriel Dessers is a far superior option than the oft-diving Portugal under-21 man.

“They shouldn’t sign him permanently,” he told Football Insider.

“How many times has he dived in the last few weeks?

“He could earn penalties but he’s woeful.

“[Against Hearts] he dived when Dessers passed him the ball.

“All Silva had to do was sidefoot it in but what on earth was he doing?

“It looked like there was a sniper on the roof or something!

“It was embarrassing for the boy.

“He’s done it too many times and it’s embarrassing for the club.

“Dessers is doing alright at the moment too and is much better than Silva.

“I’m not too fussed about Silva.

“Listen, I’m baffled that Wolves paid that much for him.

“There might be a great player in there but if you pay £35million for him, you’d expect more.

“He’s been awful.”
