Tottenham now battling Brighton for the signing of ‘excellent’ winger who’ll cost just £13m

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to battle it out with Brighton & Hove Albion for the signing of a Juventus player this summer.

Spurs are looking more and more likely to miss out on Champions League football this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s men sit seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, albeit with two games in hand over Unai Emery’s side.

Yet, off the back of consecutive defeats to Newcastle United and Arsenal, Spurs face away games at Chelsea and Liverpool this week.

Nevertheless, Postecoglou seems unmoved by the possibility of missing out on Europe’s top club competition and is far more interested in his side’s development.

There has been undoubted progress on that end, with the Aussie drastically changing Tottenham’s style of football this season. But there is still plenty of work to be done and this feels like a crucial summer transfer window for the north Londoners.

Tottenham battling Brighton for ‘excellent’ signing

According to Tutto Juve, Spurs target Samuel Iling-Junior is edging closer to a summer exit at Juventus.

Many clubs have already ‘come forward’ for the winger, including Tottenham and Brighton.

Iling-Junior is also attracting interest from Italy, with Atalanta and Bologna both keen. Juve value the Englishman at around €15 million (£12.9 million) ahead of the summer.

It’s well-documented that Tottenham are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.

The north Londoners missed out on a deal for Antonio Nusa in January and opted to bring in Timo Werner on loan.

Spurs have a decision to make on the German’s future but will also need to add extra quality up front.

Iling-Junior has displayed plenty of promise in Italy after making the switch to Turin from Chelsea’s academy set-up back in 2020.

This season, the 20-year-old has netted once and provided two assists in 21 appearances for The Old Lady.

While the ‘excellent’ winger clearly has potential, Spurs fans are likely to be hoping for a more ready-made addition this summer.

Tottenham have lacked real quality off the left-hand side of late and you can’t help but feel they require a player who can come in and make an instant impact.
