Inter Miami, one of the most popular clubs in the MLS, is owned by an ex-England captain and MLS pioneer.

Despite being one of the newest MLS clubs, Inter Miami is arguably the most well-known team in Major League Soccer. The Herons joined the league in 2020 and built their roster, stadium, and fan base from the ground up. The team faced some early struggles in their inaugural campaign, but everything changed when Lionel Messi left PSG and signed with Inter Miami in 2023.

Now, just four years after the expansion team joined the MLS, Chase Stadium is often filled to capacity, housing over 19,000 fans each home game who are eager to see one of the greatest soccer players of all time take the field. Messi is not the only superstar on the roster, though; his former Barcelona teammates, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets now all represent the Pink and Black.

The unprecedented signings would not have been possible without the vision and influence of the Inter Miami owners.

Who owns Inter Miami?

The majority owners of Inter Miami are Jose Mas and Jorge Mas. Their third partner is David Beckham, former Manchester United prodigy and Real Madrid blockbuster signing.

Although Beckham's six Premier League titles and Champions League title are his most obvious achievements, Beckham also added two MLS Cups to his trophy case after signing with LA Galaxy in 2007. Beckham's time in the MLS clearly stayed with him even after he retired, because he now is dedicated to bringing Inter Miami and Major League Soccer to new heights.

After the Mas brothers and Beckham signed Messi, the former England captain told The Times of London, "This is just the beginning. His presence, medium to long-term, will prove that this league belongs among the world’s best leagues over time."

So far, Inter Miami has already won the 2023 Leagues Cup and continues to break attendance records at stadiums across the United States as fans flock to see Beckham's club perform on the biggest stages in the MLS.
