According to the Barside Buzz, Ben Affleck is in talks with Marvel about a non-Daredevil related project. I stress non-Daredevil because this is where most fans heads will go. Especially given the rumors that Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner is reprising her role as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine. So to be clear, I’ve not heard any leaker claim Affleck would show up in that film. In fact some have suggested the reason he’s not will be explained in the film.

Instead this is a rumor from Daniel RPK on his Patreon that Affleck is doing the ‘talks with Marvel about possible projects’ thing. Now, if you follow the rumor mill you’ll know Marvel does this all the time. Just to name two actors who have confirmed talks with Marvel, yet never gotten roles, Keanu Reeves and Giancarlo Esposito. There are more, but the point is that meeting with an actor for Marvel is more about sounding them out it seems.

The thing with Affleck is, that he previously said he’s done with capes. In other words, no more superhero roles for him. To be fair, neither his turn as Daredevil, nor Batman were massive successes. Though, I think he made a good Batman personally, just not in good films. That being said, what kind of role would suit him at Marvel?

My top choice would be as a villain. Marvel already has history of turning Batman’s into MCU villains and Affleck would be great. Just off the top of my head he’d be great as Doctor Doom, Norman Osborn or a few others I won’t get into. I’d find that as a fan far more interesting than having him be Nova or something like that.

Of course, we really are getting ahead of ourselves. Unless Reeves has been cast in the last 5 years and we don’t know about it, then ‘talks’ don’t always pan out. Unless we get any related rumors, anything else is just speculation for now. Additionally Affleck is a director, so perhaps this could be for something behind the camera also?
