Ahead of the Boston Bruins’ do-or-die playoff game tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston police warned fans to be careful of counterfeit tickets.

Police recommended people only buy passes from authorized sellers, according to a statement posted to bpdnews.com.

Fans who buy their tickets from a “secondary source” are taking a chance, and do so at the buyer’s own risk, the statement said.

“Officers want to proactively curb such activity and encourage buyers to only purchase from official vendors. Purchasing via other means creates the potential for possessing an invalid and/or counterfeit ticket,” the statement said.

On Stubhub, tickets for tonight’s game were on sale for between $200 to nearly $1,000 Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the sale of counterfeit tickets are asked to contact police at the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).

“Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously are reminded that the Boston Police Department is only interested in the information you provide, not who you are,” police said.

Game 7 between the Maple Leafs and Bruins is scheduled for 8 p.m. at TD Garden.
