No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 17/18 Michigan in Big Ten Championship Game

Nittany Lions fell 16-4 on Saturday night

Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 9 Penn State men's lacrosse team fell to No. 17/18 Michigan in the Big Ten tournament championship game on Saturday night by a score of 16-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Michigan opened the first quarter with four unanswered goals to take a 4-0 lead with 9:15 remaining in the first half.
  • Kyle Aldridge then scored the first goal for the Nittany Lions to cut the Michigan lead to 4-1 with 8:59 remaining in the quarter.
  • Michigan closed the quarter with a goal coming with 2:28 remaining in the quarter to take a 5-1 lead after the first.
  • Michigan opened the scoring in the second quarter with a goal from Cathal Roberts with 14:11 left in the half to take a 6-1 lead.
  • Penn State then fired two back-to-back goals off the sticks of Matt Traynor and TJ Malone to cut the Michigan lead to 6-3.
  • Michigan then scored three unanswered goals to close the half to take a 8-3 lead after one half.
  • Michigan was the only team to score in the third quarter scoring six times to take a commanding 15-3 lead at the end of three.
