Rangers fans slaughter James Tavernier after ‘pathetic’ footage analysed

Rangers fans have slaughtered captain James Tavernier following his own goal in their victory over Kilmarnock on Sunday (5 May).

The Gers right-back lost his man at the back post before the ball deflected off him and into his own net, giving Killie the lead after just 12 minutes.

The afternoon didn’t get much better for the 32-year-old when he missed from the penalty spot just over 10 minutes later after Joe Wright was sent off for preventing the ball from going into the net with his hand.

The Light Blues responded well to that setback, with Fabio Silva levelling things up on the stroke of half-time before goals from Ben Davies, Tom Lawrence and John Souttar earned their side a 4-1 win at Ibrox.

The victory took Philippe Clement’s men back within three points of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
