No. 15 Women’s Lacrosse to Face James Madison in First Round of NCAA Tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 15 Penn State women's lacrosse will face James Madison in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 10 in College Park, Md. at 3 p.m., announced by the NCAA Sunday evening. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
This is the second consecutive season the Nittany Lions were selected to the tournament and the 27th time in program history. Their first appearance was in 1983. Last season, Penn State fell to Stony Brook in the first round of the tournament, 12-8. 
 
Penn State has won five National titles in the program's history (1978, 1979, 1980, 1987, 1989). The last time the Nittany Lions advanced to the second round was in 2017 when they earned a first-round bye to move on to the final four. 
 
Penn State is 11-7 (4-2 Big Ten), while James Madison is 13-5 (5-1 AAC). The Dukes fell to Florida in the AAC Championship, 21-11. This will be 37th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Nittany Lions are 22-14-0 all-time against the Dukes with their last meeting being in 2022. 
 
The winner of Friday's game will move on to the second round of the tournament and compete against the winner of the Robert Morris vs. Maryland game on May 12.
