MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team defeated Pacific, 4-2, in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, on Monday.
West Virginia (15-12, 3-10 Big 12) advances to the tournament's semifinal round and will face Tulsa on Tuesday, May 7.

Love-Star Alexis was dominant in the No. 3 seed match, winning, 6-2.
In the No. 1 doubles match, the pairing of junior
Michaela Kucharova and senior
Momoko Nagato rallied from an early deficit to contend with Pacific's Klara Kosan and Tomi Main. However, the veteran pairing was unable to clinch the victory, falling, 6-4.

Ting-Pei Chang earned the win for WVU, 6-4.
The Mountaineers continued their impressive play in singles with Kucharova taking the No. 3 seed match, 6-2, 6-1.
In the No. 2 seed singles match, Nagato defeated Pacific's Tomi Main, 6-3, 6-3, to put West Virginia ahead, 3-0.
Alexis was defeated in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, to give Pacific its first point of the match. The final three singles matches all went to a third set as Lipatova and Chang each rallied after falling behind in the first set of their respective matches.
Dodik clinched the victory for West Virginia in the No. 4 seed match, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
