Notes

• The No. 3-ranked Wolverines (28-3) have advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and will host No. 22-ranked Miami (13-9) after the Hurricanes knocked off No. 14 seed Florida in the second round. U-M has advanced out of the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the 10 times it has hosted the event.

• Michigan and Miami are meeting for the third time in the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Each team has one win in the Sweet 16 series. Miami came away with a 4-2 win during the 2011 NCAA Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif., with Michigan getting a 4-3 win during the 2016 NCAA Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. The latter punched Michigan's ticket to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

• The all-time series between Michigan and Miami is tied at 8-8. The teams have not faced each other since the aforementioned match in the Round of 16 at the 2016 NCAA Tournament. In that match, Michigan took a 3-0 lead before Miami stormed back to tie the team match at 3-3. Ronit Yurovsky sealed the Michigan win, winning 11 of the final 12 games at the top spot to put U-M's fourth point on the board.

• Head coach Ronni Bernstein will be facing her alma mater for the ninth time since taking over at Michigan. Bernstein was a four-time All-American in both singles and doubles at Miami, while being named the 1988 NCAA Senior of the Year. She won the 1986 NCAA doubles title and was inducted into the Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Bernstein is 4-4 against Miami as the U-M head coach.

• Michigan has won 20 consecutive matches, tying the program record set during the 2015 season. Dating back to a 4-1 win over NC State on Feb. 22 to kick off the streak, Michigan has five wins over ranked teams and surrendered just 13 points to its opponents.

• U-M has won a school-record 28 matches, topping the previous record of 26 set during the 2016 season as U-M advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

• Michigan has won 17 matches at the Varsity Tennis Center, the most in a single season in program history. It tops the 16 wins Michigan had during the 2011 season.

Piper Charney enters the NCAA Tournament on an 18-match winning streak, compiling a 35-8 overall singles record and a 24-3 record in dual matches. Her 33 wins rank ninth in Michigan's single-season history. She has the second-most wins as a freshman in program history, trailing just Brienne Minor's 36 wins during her freshman season in 2016.

Kari Miller is 30-7 overall in singles and 15-4 at No. 1. She is up to 93 career wins, becoming just the 13th Wolverine in program history to reach 90 wins. With her two wins over the weekend to help Michigan advance out of the NCAA Regional, she is tied for 10th on Michigan's career wins list.

• In the latest ITA rankings, Michigan has six ranked singles players in Miller (No. 5), Julia Fliegner (No. 28), No. 57 Gala Mesochoritou, Lily Jones (No. 78), Charney (No. 113) and Bayley Sheinin (No. 118). Miller and Jaedan Brown are ranked No. 9 in doubles.

• Singles play has been strong for the Wolverines in dual-match action. U-M is 102-26 in singles play, good for a .797 winning percentage. Charney (24), Jones (19), Mesochoritou (17), Miller (15), Fliegner (12) and Brown (10) have each reached double-digit wins in dual matches. All nine Wolverines have picked up at least one singles win in dual-match play.

• Michigan is 22-0 when winning the doubles point this season and 6-3 without securing the match's first point, with wins over No. 15 Cal, No. 5 NC State, No. 8 Pepperdine, Maryland, Purdue and most recently against Notre Dame after falling in doubles play. Prior to dropping the doubles point against Notre Dame last time out, U-M had won the doubles point in nine consecutive matches.

• The remainder of the NCAA Tournament, both the remaining team matches and individual championships, is being hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
