West Virginia Travels to Waco for Big 12 Outdoor Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team will travel to the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on May 9-11. This year's championship will be hosted by Baylor University at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium in Waco, Texas.

The 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Championship is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET, on Thursday, followed by a 12:00 p.m. start on Friday and concludes on Saturday with a start time of 3:00 p.m.

The championship will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, while live results will be available on WVUsports.com.

The Mountaineers will face off against 13 conference opponents which includes Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas tech and UCF.

In 2023, West Virginia earned 10 All-Big 12 awards at the outdoor conference championship. Senior Ceili McCabe collected her third straight conference win in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:12.79.

West Virginia concluded the regular season on May 4 as it served host to the WVU Last Chance at the Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown. Redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden highlighted Saturday's meet as she became the third fastest Mountaineer in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Vanderheyden notched a time of 10:02.80, claiming first place and a personal best in the event.
