U-M to Travel to South Bend for NCAA Tournament First-Round Game vs. Mercer

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team (14-3) will travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Mercer (14-5) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (May 10) at 4 p.m. at Arlotta Stadium on the campus of Notre Dame. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Notes:

• The winner of the U-M vs. Mercer matchup will take on the winner of Friday's contest between host No. 7 Notre Dame and Coastal Carolina on Sunday (May 12) at noon in the second round.

• Michigan is ranked fifth nationally in the May 6 edition of the IL Women/IWLCA poll.

• U-M is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance; it hosted the first and second rounds in 2019 and earned first-round victories in 2022 and 2023.

• As a defensive unit, the Wolverines continue to lead the nation allowing just 6.88 goals per game and rank second with a .563 team save percentage. Junior goalie Erin O'Grady also leads the nation in goals-against average (6.68) and save percentage (.580).

• Senior Maddie Burns broke the Michigan career ground balls record against No. 1 Northwestern, picking up two to bring her career total to 101. Burns broke Anna Schueler's record of 100 career ground balls set from 2014-17. Burns followed it up with a career performance against JHU that included five caused turnovers and three ground balls.

• Burns and O'Grady received the program's first-ever Big Ten yearly awards. Burns was named the Big Ten Defender of the Year and O'Grady was named the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year.

• A record seven Wolverines earned All-Big Ten honors as well. Burns was a unanimous first-team selection, with Kaylee Dyer, Erin O'Grady and Jill Smith joining Burns on the first team. Sophomores Grace Callahan and Jordyn Harrison and senior Lily Montemarano notched second-team honors.
