Wolverines Close Season After Ninth-Place Showing at NCAA Regional

» With a 924 54-hole team total, Michigan finished ninth at the NCAA Auburn Regional ending its season as the Wolverines did not advance to the NCAA Finals.
» In mirror images of each other, Monet Chun (79-74-76) and Lauren Sung (79-74-76) tied for 30th with 229 regional totals. Playing in her 49th and final event at U-M, Hailey Borja tied for 38th (231), while Sidney Yermish tied for 46th (235).
» Michigan competed in its fifth straight regional and 17th overall in program history.

AUBURN, Ala. -- With a 924 54-hole team total, the 36th-ranked University of Michigan women's golf team posted a ninth-place finish Wednesday (May 8) at the NCAA Auburn Regional played at the Auburn University Club. By not finishing among the top five, the Wolverines season is complete.

Appearing in its 17th NCAA postseason event, U-M opened the 54-hole regional with a 311 tally on Monday (May 6) as freshman Sidney Yermish paced the round with a 76 and helped the Wolverines to 10th after 18 holes. The Maize and Blue improved by seven shots in the second round, with its 304 moving the Wolverines into the ninth spot as fifth-year senior Hailey Borja, senior Monet Chun and sophomore Lauren Sung all carded 74s (+2) Tuesday afternoon (May 7).

With Chun and Sung following with final-round 76s, not only did both tie for 30th (229), they led U-M to a 309 and a 924 regional total and ninth-place finish. Borja closed her 49-event career (second all-time), tying for 38th at 231 (77-74-80), while Yermish tied for 46th at 235 (76-82-77) in his first career NCAA event.
