Roma make Rasmus Kristensen transfer decision in surprise Leeds twist – sources

Roma will not look to sign Rasmus Kristensen on a permanent deal once his loan runs out at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The decision comes as something of a surprise given that Kristensen has been a regular for the Italian giants since securing the temporary switch from Leeds United last summer.

The Denmark international will now return to the Whites once his loan deal with the Serie A club ends in a matter of weeks.

Kristensen isn’t believed to have a future at Leeds after Football Insider previously revealed he is unlikely to be in Daniel Farke’s plans even if the club are promoted this season.

It’s expected Elland Road chiefs will look to sell the 26-year-old right-back this summer despite his contract running until 2027 in West Yorkshire.

Rasmus Kristensen likely to leave Leeds United this summer

Kristensen has enjoyed a reasonable spell with Roma after making 29 appearances in the Italian capital, 19 of which have come as a starter.

But the defender was left out of their Europa League squad for this season, with the Serie A side reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

It appears he hasn’t done enough to secure a permanent move to Rome and a return to Leeds is now on the cards.

It’s unlikely Kristensen will be able to force his way back into contention under Farke, who is expected to show loyalty to the players he’s managed during this campaign.

Football Insider revealed on 5 May that Leeds could be forced to sell several players this summer after their latest accounts showed £73.6million worth of their outstanding transfer fees are due to be paid by the end of June this year.

The club will look to raise that cash by offloading some of the players they loaned out last summer, with Kristensen one of those expected to leave Elland Road permanently.
