Lady apologises to police after she assaulting an officer who stopped her for driving against traffic in Lagos

Lady apologises to police after she assaulting an officer who stopped her for driving against traffic in Lagos

A Nigerian lady has been left off the hook by the police after she apologized for assaulting a police officer.

The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, reacted to a video of the lady identified as Aderele Aisha, charging at an officer and assaulting him after she was stopped by the officer for driving against traffic.

In the viral video, the lady began to charge at the officer after he attempted to grab her phone.

Many social media users commended her for charging at the officer and also refusing to allow him to have a hold of her phone.

Reacting to the video, Hundeyin in a post shared on his X handle today May 10 berated the officer for his conduct. He said despite the officer exercising refrains, he allowed his emotions to get the better part of him and has been taken in for appropriate action.

He added that Aisha has profusely apologized and tendered a written apology for her actions towards the officer.

‘’As much as the police officer exercised restraint, he allowed his emotions to get the better part of him once or twice. A police officer is expected to exercise utmost restraint in the face of provocation. This definitely is a teaching moment for officers and men of the Force. The officer has been taken in for appropriate actions.

That being said, Aderele Aisha, who drove against traffic, clearly assaulted the officer and behaved in a disorderly and unruly manner. She has since profusely apologized for her actions and tendered a written apology.

While we continue to train our men to be as professional as possible, while not sparing any officer who clearly acts unprofessionally, we urge the citizenry to strive to maintain decorum in their dealings with security agencies.''

I wanted to quickly insult the girl for disrespecting and officer, because even if our public systems have issues, I don't believe in assaulting an officer. But mehn watching this triggered me so much. The officer is at FAULT! Why did he touch her phone? Why did he touch her? Gosh, police need to do better. This is ridiculous.

Horrible woman. A family we know in UK lost their elderly father because of someone driving against traffic. Very horrible woman. You are hitting an officer. Try that in the US and you won’t live to tell the story. Idiot woman

Very silly spoilt brat, kudos to the police man for keeping his cool..... He is indeed a father. Can she try that with a military man?

This Aisha is foul-mouthed and needs a lesson or two in civility. Only recently Governor Sanwoolu himself was apprehending such traffic violators. In spite of her apology she should be charged with the violation.

Empty vessels make the most noise, I don't know why some of us are in the habit of aggression even when they're on the wrong side of the law. Particularly in traffic offenses.

The police always admit video evidence so why do they always want to shoot you for recording them? You know the answer...

They will reset her brain in the Crèche. You can’t sleep in police cell and not fear police afterwards. Them must coordinate you, unless you are an hardened criminal.

Why is she been left off the hook? Her apology isn't enough imagine untrained dolt which I am sure all she has going on for her is offering smelling and stinking pussy just to obtain favour just opened her idiotic mouth to call someone old enough to be her father "bastard". Seriously Police needs to deal with such an uncouth fvctards than allowing her to go because of apology. Well this is a lesson to her to always rein in her emotions whenever he is not with her boyfriend. I just wish she spent time in jail.

Omo from the look of things (her face) let's forgive her 😂 I am sure her face has met several speedy greetings from several palms and hands at the station. Let's take pity on her. She looks like she'll need facial reconstruction.

Getting away with minor offences embolden the commitment of large scale offences in any society. That's why in most climes, they don't allow you get away with minor offences like DUI, assault, forgery even over speeding. This lady should be sue and punished for her conduct. I can bet you that people are beginning to commit crime in Nigeria with the intention that they would apologize at the end of the day. Apologies is not enough for crime committed intentionally. These are the same people that would say a lot of trash about Nigeria and still do what they cannot do in other countries. It seems there's bribery involved in these constant apologies Rufai committed his own and apologies, then turn around to insult the same system. Portable, David, Cubana priest, seun kuti, funke akindele etc . The list is endless.

Further to @Ogochukwu's pertinent observation of the headline, the police officer correctly used "restraint" whereas LIB said "refrains". In addition, the correct phrase is LET OFF THE HOOK and not LEFT OFF THE HOOK.

When I saw the video yesterday, I thought she was on her right but I just realized that she drove against the traffic and she had the audacity to shout at the police officer. Abeg, let her face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterrence to her likes.

Watch the police in other parts of the civilized world, a police officer should not touch an offender more a male officer touching a female law breaker, the officer could be accused of sexual assault, police officers should be well adiviced
