AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

17:13

And breathe! Phew, that was some game in the end. Just when it seemed like the game was nearing a tame goalless end, three goals inside nine minutes including a stoppage-time winner turned this into a Premier League classic. Bournemouth had two Solanke goals disallowed in the first half and until the 85th minute, those were the biggest moments of the game. Mbeumo opened the scoring with another late goal against the Cherries, before Solanke finally got a goal, his 19th of the season, just four minutes later. However, Brentford looked very motivated to end their away campaign on a high and super-sub Wissa, who provided Mbeumo with the assist, smashed one into the net in stoppage time to win it. The Bees ended the game with a superior xG of 1.44 to the Cherries' 0.69

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:15

Kluivert almost gets hold of a nice through ball from Christie inside the box, but Collins and and Ajer combined well to block the threat.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:13

More Bournemouth pressure down the left wing. They have started this half so much better than the first. A Kluivert-Semenyo link-up down the left is cleared away though.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:12

The referee messes up a call as he wrongly awards Brentford a throw. Iraola is unhappy once again and is having a chat with the officials on the sidelines.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:10

Toney almost had his chance! A loose ball almost finds Toney in the box, but Kelly does so well to get a crucial touch to it.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:05

We are back underway at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth get things going in the second half. Solanke vs Toney remains the focus, and there are no changes from either side just yet.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

16:00

It is quite even in terms of expected goals (xG) so far, with 0.34 for Bournemouth to Brentford's 0.30. Brentford led the possession charts with 58 per cent, while both teams were quite even in that half in terms of shots on goal and on target. If the Cherries manage to end this game without a loss, they would set a new club record of seven successive unbeaten home games. It is unlikely either team will make a substitution right away, but let's see.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:56

Still goalless at the Vitality Stadium, but we are not sure how. Both teams will be disappointed to not have scored at least one goal so far. Brentford were utterly dominant for the first 15-odd minutes, before Bournemouth got going. Solanke had two disallowed goals in a matter of a few minutes, with the first one being disallowed by VAR after a foul in the build-up. Referee Matthew Donohue, in charge of his first Premier League game, felt the heat in that first half as well. It was an entertaining half and we can expect a lot from the second half as well. Stay tuned!

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

HALF-TIME: BOURNEMOUTH 0-0 BRENTFORD

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:52

Bournemouth with a couple of threatening attacking moves but Brentford survive. Kelly's cross from the left is collected by Flekken and he is happy to waste some time and relax for a bit.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:49

Meanwhile, Semenyo and Cook test Flekken with strong efforts. Nothing too threatening though.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:48

Senesi is the first 'player' to be shown a yellow card today as he takes down Ajer, who stayed down for a few seconds.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:48

Four minutes added to end the first half. Meanwhile, Ajer is brought down by Senesi.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:46

Another free-kick for Brentford as Smith takes down Reguilon as both went for a high ball. A wasted free-kick as there was a foul on Cook outside the box.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:44

Now the flag is raised against Solanke during a Cherries attack and his frustration continues for now.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:43

Both teams have had five attempts each. Of course, not counting Solanke's disallowed goals. Meanwhile, the drama has somewhat eased in the last couple of minutes.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:42

Meanwhile, Brentford who did not score in their last two games, are still without a goal. They will rue not making more of that first period of this game where they dominated.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:40

More drama! The ball goes in the net but a foul is called! Solanke pushes Collins before taking a shot past Flekken into the net, but the whistle is already blown for a foul. Solanke is fuming.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:38

Reguilon swings in a lovely free-kick from the left to find some towering Brentford shirts but Bournemouth do well to clear. Meanwhile, Cherries manager Iraola, still unhappy after that disallowed goal. has been shown a yellow card.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:36

BLOCK! Kelly does so well to block back-to-back Brentford shots, and the second one off a Toney strike goes out for a corner.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:35

Solanke has opened the scoring in nine different Premier League games so far this season - more than any other player. That was almost his 10th, but not to be. He will likely get another chance though.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:33

Brentford get a free-kick in a dangerous position on the left but the Cherries do well to clear.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:30

GOAL DISALLOWED! Drama at the Vitality

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:28

Assist Antoine Serlom Semenyo

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:26

Mbeumo stayed down for a few seconds after a bit of a clash with Bournemouth skipper Smith, but he is good to continue.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:25

Miss! Kluivert plays a nice through ball into Semenyo's path inside the box, but the latter's shot at the near post is wayward and misses the target comfortably.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:24

Good defending from Kelly to clear a Bees move, but Mbeumo was anyway offside down the right.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:22

Another shot from outside the box. Ouattara was in a good position to take that chance but hits it straight down Flekken's throat.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:20

SAVE! At the other end, Toney swipes at one from long range and Travers is forced to make a good save diving to his right.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:18

And just when I say that, Semenyo gets one in the middle just outside the box and smashes one. A good strike, not too far from the cross bar.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:17

Semenyo is just not being allowed to do much after getting the ball. This time Lewis-Potter does well to combine wth Reguilon and get the ball back for the Bees.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:16

Kelly does well to chest down a decent Brentford cross from the left and Travers collects comfortably. Bournemouth slowly seem to be finding their feet in this one.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:15

Kluivert looks to release Ouattara down the left flank but his pass is too heavy and goes out for a Brentford throw.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:12

A bit of Bournemouth for the first time today. Christie sends a lovely through ball to Semenyo, whose strong cross is cleared at the near post.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:10

Bournemouth are now just looking to slow down proceedings and the Brentford momentum a little bit, knocking the ball around for a bit.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:09

SAVE! Lewis-Potter cuts in from the left, takes a shot towards the far corner and Travers does well to push it away for another Brentford corner. A staggering 96 per cent possession for the Bees so far.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:06

Despite Bournemouth’s strong record at home this season, visitors Brentford are favourites to win this game with Opta’s model showing a 38.9 per cent probability of a Bees win to 32.4 per cent for the Cherries.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:06

Back-to-back Brentford corners. A very promising start from the Bees. Bournemouth do well to deny them as Christie clears his lines.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:05

An early foul on Toney by Cook, in the Bournemouth half. We might see a lot of that today. But nothing comes off the free-kick.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

15:01

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

14:39

Ahead of today’s game, manager Thomas Frank called this Brentford’s toughest season so far in the Premier League. The Bees, currently in 16th place, cannot finish higher than 15th this season with two games to go. With the second-worst away record in the league this season including 12 losses on the road, behind only Sheffield United, Frank and his men will aim to get atleast something out of their final away game of the season. The goals have dried up again over the last two games, but Brentford have lost only one of their last seven games. Mathias Jensen and Kristoffer Ajer are both in contention for this game after picking up injuries recently, but all eyes will be on whether Ivan Toney can finally break his 10-game goalless run.

AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford

14:34

With two games to go this season, Bournemouth are now looking for a top-half finish after already securing their highest points tally (48) in a top-flight season. Manager Andoni Iraola’s nomination for Premier League manager of the season, the only manager outside the Top 4 to be nominated, says a lot about the season the Cherries have had. Bournemouth will likely not be too fazed coming into this on the back of a 3-0 loss to title challengers Arsenal in their previous game and will be motivated to bag all three points in their last home game of the season, against a Brentford side who have been far from their best all season. Lloyd Kelly, Tyler Adams and Marcus Tavernier are all fit again.
