Miami Police Department unveils new Rolls-Royce cop car to aid recruitment

The Miami Beach Police Department’s newest recruitment tool is a $250,000 tricked-out Rolls-Royce patrol car.

“We are thrilled to introduce this stunning addition to the MBPD recruitment team — courtesy of Braman Motors,” the department posted Thursday on X with a video showing off the lights-and-sirens-equipped luxury car flanked by two officers on motorcycles.

The ride is on loan to the department from luxe dealer Braman Motors in an effort to help attract law enforcement hopefuls.

“Recruiting police officers in this country today is a difficult thing to do. Using this car to help us do recruitment is gonna be great,” Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones told WSVN 7 News at a promotional event in South Beach on Thursday.

The unveiling had many on social media saying, “Only in Miami.”

“I don’t know why but I feel like jaywalking repeatedly in Miami Beach so I might get a ride in that,” one commenter wrote on the department’s post.

Others were less amused. “Is this an episode of Reno 911?” one said. “This has to be a joke.”

“How do you make an entire city look grossly out of touch with reality (because it is)???” radio host and Miami native Grant Stern posted on X.

Many questioned where the money came from for the decked out 2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost but the department insisted it comes at no cost to taxpayers.

The car is on loan from the dealership and will eventually be returned, the Miami Herald reported. Braman will handle gas and maintenance and the force would only be responsible if the car is damaged while in its care.

The department and Braman, which is owned by Miami billionaire Norman Braman, posted that the sponsorship is in accordance with city policy.
