NEW AUSTIN COUNTY CHIEF DEPUTY SWORN IN
The Austin County Sheriff’s Office has a new second in command.
Sheriff Jack Brandes has appointed Matthew Walls as his new Chief Deputy.
Walls brings over 21 years of law enforcement experience to the position, with almost 15 years working for the Austin County Sheriff's Office.
According to a press release, Chief Deputy Walls was chosen because he knows the inner workings of the department, and has established great working relationships with the current staff and surrounding agencies, which they feel will make this a positive transition for the Sheriff's Office.
Walls takes over the position formerly held by Richard Holloman, who retired last month after over 40 years of service to the County.
