Micky van de Ven uses one word to describe Cristian Romero’s display for Tottenham vs Burnley

Micky van de Ven had lauded his centre-back partner Cristian Romero after Tottenham Hotspur beat Burnley on Saturday.

Tottenham got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Vincent Kompany’s men, resigning Burnley to the Championship next season.

It ended a run of four consecutive defeats for Spurs in the Premier League and Ange Postecoglou’s side left it late once again to seal an important three points.

Jacob Bruun Larsen provided a familiar sight for Spurs fans in the 25th minute as they watched their side fall behind for the seventh time in their last eight home games.

They didn’t have to wait long for a leveller though as Pedro Porro produced an excellent strike just seven minutes later.

Micky van de Ven netted the winner in the 86th minute with a finish that many strikers would have been proud of. The 22-year-old earned high praise from Postecoglou after the game following an impressive debut campaign in England.

But Van de Ven was keen to praise his defensive partner Cristian Romero after yesterday’s victory.

Romero’s stats vs Burnley

Van de Ven grabbed the headlines after netting the winner but Romero put in yet another commanding display at centre-back.

Barring his red card against Chelsea earlier this season, the Argentine has produced consistent performances under Postecoglou.

Indeed, Postecoglou lauded Romero and Van de Ven just on Saturday as he claimed the duo really stood up during Spurs’ losing streak

Yesterday was no different, with Romero among Tottenham’s best performers based on statistics from Sofascore.
