Amanda Holden 'snubs' ITV Britain's Got Talent golden buzzer act

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden appeared to turn on her own Golden Buzzer contestant by backing a different act.

The 53-year-old talent show judge has had a seat on the ITV show since it began in 2007 and has helped head judge Simon Cowell, 64, pick out singers, dancers and more. Since the eighth season of the show, which aired in 2014, the judges have been able to send any outstanding contestant they have spotted through to the live rounds by pushing a golden buzzer.

On tonight's show, Amanda was seen bopping her buzzer for 28-year-old singer Sydnie Christmas. Amanda, along with fellow judges Alesha Dixon, 45, and Bruno Tonioli, 68, as well as top judge Simon, was blown away by the gym receptionist.

As the show went on, Amanda may have had a change of heart over who she thinks should win. When asked at a press conference about the current season, Amanda suggested she wanted to see a completely different singing act win the show.

When asked who she'd like to win, according to the Express, she said: "For me this year, I would love a choir to win, I've always said that to Simon. I want that money to be like spread across loads of people and I would love to see loads of people win it. It's always brilliant when one or two people win it, but I think to have a whole choir... I think this year we've had some amazing choirs."

This may come as a surprise to Sydnie after she blew Amanda away with her rendition of Andrea McArdle's song, Tomorrow. Moments before hitting the golden buzzer, Amanda told the singer: "What struck me so much about you is how naturally funny, how warm and how brilliant your presence was the moment you walked on the stage. And how you were entertaining everyone but then brought us the most beautiful, heartfelt version of that song and that was the best version I ever heard in my life so I'm going to do this."

Meanwhile, Bruno has warned fans of the show that they may struggle to chose who to vote for as a winner - as he argues the calibre of talent for 2024 is so high. He remarked: "It's actually going to be really hard because the quality overall is so hard, we've had singers, dancers, comedians and choirs."

Bruno himself selected 39-year-old singer Taryn Charles as his golden buzzer contestant after being stunned by her rendition of Aretha Franklin's (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Simon pressed his golden buzzer for dance troupe CyberAgent Legit, Alesha picked a choir called Ravi's Dream Team, and show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly selected stunt team Ssaulabi Taekwondo Troupe as their golden buzzer choice.
